This is all to say that Arcane didn't have to go anywhere near as hard as it does, but it does. It would have been so easy for Netflix's League of Legends TV show Arcane, created by Alex Yee and Christian Linke and delivered by Riot Games and French animation studio Fortiche, to be just "OK." Video game adaptations are hit and miss, and coasting on the worldwide appeal of League of Legends was always going to be an option for the show's creators. How to watch: Kim’s Convenience is streaming on Netflix. "I remain fixated on the missed opportunities to show Asian characters with real depth and the ability to grow and evolve," he added. Liu said this "was doubly confusing because our producers were overwhelmingly white and we were a cast of Asian Canadians who had a plethora of lived experiences to draw from and offer to writers." It's worth noting here that Liu publicly expressed frustration over how the show was ended in June 2021, and said his and his fellow cast members' input was not taken into consideration by the show's mostly white production and creative team. The show has its fair share of hijinks, tackling social issues with more humor than bite.
